Hannover, Linden - Neueröffnung Secondhand Shop

(deutsch/ english)

Theres a new second hand store, with the name of 'Kilorausch' in Hannover (Limmerstr. 52/54). They have different areas in the shop with different prices.Theres the regular single items corner, or the 1 Euro area oooorrr, which I only new from Japan, the corner where you pay not for the pieces you have chosen but for the weight. The price is at the moment at 12€/kg. I got me some 1 Euro pieces to change them a little. Today i started to deconstruct one of them already :D

Btw in the same street theres a fantastic Donut/Muffin Bakery. Be sure to check it out if your there. It's worth it.

Beer Test: Beck's Black Currant Limited Edition

(deutsch/ english)

Cheers :)

Just a Short Review: Found a new Beer Mix in the Supermarket it's sold only this summer 2011 they say.
Beck's Black Currant is a 50/50 Mix and has 2,5% alc.
I like to try new stuff so I got one bottle to try.

My conclusion: It's taste is not 'beer enough' and more Black Currant. For the summer time and when it gets hot, it could be quite refreshing.. but I'd rather stay with my regular beer.

I heard they put a shot or two Black Currant Juice or Cordial into Guinness in the UK.. That's something I definitely have to try. I believe that will taste better or maybe I'll try that with German Dark and Bock Beer. :D

Cheers :)

Thai Curry Panang with Potatoes, Bok Choy and Tofu (Vegan)

(deutsch/ english)

Rezept:
  • Thailaendisches Panang Curry 50g (vegane Version)
  • Kokosnussmilch 400ml

This weekend I cooked some Thai Curry Panang Style, with Potatoes, Bok Choy and Tofu.
What you need for this easy to cook meal for 4 people is:

Recipe:
  • Panang Curry Paste (look for vegan if necessary) 50g,
  • Coconut milk 400ml,
  • Bok Choy 300g,
  • peeled Potatoes, i used about 500g? (see pic :p) but you can use less if you want cause I just had so much left,
  • sliced Tofu about 400g, get the more firm one and try to ask for one which is not sour,
  • Thai Basil about 20g, i used some Thai Basil out of the glass which was marinated in Chili Oil, fresh is best of course,
  • Rice for 4 (Jasmin Rice is usually used in Thailand)

Start cooking the rice first since this takes longest usually. I use a rice cooker cause its easier :P
Fry the tofu on medium heat in a coated pan until golden brown and crisp. Set aside. (You can take chicken if you prefer meat, but im  vegetarian so I wont use meat)
Now open the can of coconut milk and just add a bit together with the coconut fat into a pot and add the curry paste. Fry it together with some oil if necessary until it quite dissolved in the coconut milk. Add the potatoes some water, half the can of coconut milk and a bit salt and let it cook until done. Now put in the washed bok choy leaves and tofu, square it before you add it. Add the rest of the Milk and let it simmer for about 10min.
Add thai basil in the end bevore you serve it hot with rice.

Enjoy..and watch out its spicy :)
